Also known as the vampire facial, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is used to achieve a younger and revitalised look. Vampire facials have become popular through celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian. The process involves drawing blood, usually from your arm, to place in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the plasma and the platelets from the red blood cells. The procedure extracts a fluid called Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP. The PRP liquid consists of protein and other nutrients, which accelerate the growth of skin cells and collagen.
In Dr. Umed Cosmetics, we use micro-needling techniques to puncture the skin many times with ultra-tiny needles. These punctures create funnels to insert the plasma into the deeper layers. This results in reduced pore size, improved appearance of acne scars and reduction in fine lines.
