Skin Treatments and Skin Rejuvenation on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane

What we offer

Dr Umed Cosmetics provides laser, light, energy-based and paramedical skin treatments for concerns including pigmentation, redness, acne and acne scarring, skin texture, fine lines and skin laxity. We use a range of technologies rather than one device, because the right choice depends on your concern, your skin type and your recovery tolerance.

Every treatment follows a skin assessment with a qualified practitioner. The assessment determines what is appropriate for you, and sometimes it determines that a treatment you had in mind is not.

Looking for a skin cancer check or a mole assessment? That is a separate clinical service. See skin cancer checks and treatment.

Start with the concern, not the device

Most people arrive knowing what bothers them rather than which machine treats it. Below, our treatments are grouped by concern. Several technologies can address the same concern in different ways, and one appointment often addresses more than one.

Pigmentation, sun damage and uneven tone

Australian skin carries a lot of accumulated sun exposure. Depending on the type and depth of pigment, options may include broadband light therapy, picosecond laser or hybrid fractional laser.

Pico laser technology uses ultra-short pulses of energy to target specific skin concerns. It is a non-surgical option that may be considered for pigmentation, tattoo pigment removal and uneven skin texture.

BBL HERO

BroadBand Light is a light-based therapy that may be considered for concerns including pigmentation from sun damage, redness and skin clarity. BBL Skin Tyte uses infra-red light to heat the deeper skin while the surface is cooled. Body areas that may be assessed include the hands, arms, legs, shoulders and back.

HALO is a hybrid fractional laser combining ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. It is designed to address sun damage, skin texture and the appearance of fine lines. Fractional treatment delivers energy to selected microscopic areas rather than the whole skin surface.

Redness, rosacea and visible vessels

ClearSilk Non-ablative Laser

ClearSilk is a non-ablative laser procedure designed to target general redness and support collagen production. It typically involves minimal downtime. Suitability across different skin types is assessed individually rather than assumed.

Vascular concerns on the body may also be assessed using our ClearV vascular laser.

Acne, congestion and skin barrier health

DMK Enzyme Therapy

DMK Enzyme Therapy is a paramedical skin revision treatment designed to encourage skin function and support the skin barrier. It is usually recommended as a course rather than a single treatment.

We offer professional chemical peels selected according to your skin type and concern. Our qualified staff can discuss options intended to address texture, tone and skin clarity.

LED (Light Emitting Diode) Phototherapy is a non-invasive therapy that uses specific wavelengths of light to support the skin’s natural recovery process. It is often used to assist with wound healing, acne management, and skin rejuvenation.

Texture, scarring and enlarged pores

Tixel applies controlled thermal energy to the skin. It is designed to address skin texture, acne scarring and skin laxity, and treatment intensity can be adjusted according to how much recovery time you can accommodate.

VIVACE

Vivace combines radiofrequency with microneedling to heat targeted areas beneath the epidermis. It is generally used for skin texture and firmness, with a focus on comfort and shorter recovery.

Fine lines, firmness and skin laxity

Morpheus8 is a fractional radiofrequency microneedling treatment that acts in the deeper layers of the dermis to support collagen production. It may be considered for the face and for some body areas where skin firmness and contour are the concern.

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound is a non-surgical option designed to target deeper tissue layers of the face and neck. Whether it is appropriate depends on the degree and type of laxity, which is assessed at consultation.

Fine lines may also be discussed as part of a cosmetic consultation, where other options can be considered.

How we decide which treatment suits you

At your skin assessment we consider:

  1. The concern itself, and whether it sits at the surface, deeper in the skin, or both.
  2. Your skin type and tone. Some laser and light technologies carry a higher risk of pigmentation change in darker skin. This affects which device, which settings, and sometimes whether laser is appropriate at all.
  3. Your history. Previous treatments, medications, recent sun exposure, tendency to pigment or scar, and any active skin conditions.
  4. Your recovery tolerance. Treatments that work at greater depth generally involve more visible recovery. There is a genuine trade-off here and we will be direct about it.
  5. Time frame. Most skin concerns respond to a course of treatments rather than one appointment, and some technologies are better suited to particular times of year.

Sometimes the answer is that skincare and sun protection should come first, or that a different concern should be treated before the one you came in for. We will tell you if that is the case.

Risks, recovery and what we will not promise

  • Results vary between individuals. The same treatment on two people can produce different outcomes. We cannot predict yours.
  • Not everyone is suitable. Skin type, medical history, medications, active skin conditions and recent sun exposure all affect suitability. Some people will be advised against treatment.
  • All of these treatments carry risk. Possible effects include redness, swelling, crusting, temporary or longer-lasting changes in pigmentation, blistering, infection and scarring. Risk varies by device, by setting and by individual, and the risks relevant to you will be discussed before you consent.
  • Downtime is real. “Minimal downtime” does not mean none. You will be told what to expect for the specific treatment being considered, before you decide.
  • A course is usually recommended. Single-session results are the exception rather than the rule.
  • Aftercare matters. Sun protection and following post-treatment instructions materially affect both the result and the risk.
  • Cost is discussed at consultation, because it depends on the treatment, the area and the number of sessions assessed as appropriate.
  • Age matters. Additional legal requirements apply to patients under 18.
  • If you are unhappy, speak with us first so we can address it. You can also raise a concern with Ahpra or with the Office of the Health Ombudsman in Queensland at any time.

Who provides your skin treatments

Where our skin treatments are available

Which skin treatment is right for me?

That depends on your concern, your skin type and how much recovery time you can accommodate. The purpose of the skin assessment is to answer this question, rather than to confirm a treatment you have already chosen.

What is the difference between Morpheus8 and Vivace?

Both combine radiofrequency with microneedling. In general terms, they differ in the depth at which they are designed to work and in the recovery involved. Which is more appropriate for you is assessed individually.

Is laser treatment suitable for darker skin?

It depends on the technology and the individual. Some laser and light treatments carry a higher risk of pigmentation change in darker skin tones. This is specifically assessed before treatment, and in some cases an alternative approach will be recommended.

How many sessions will I need?

Most skin concerns are managed over a course of treatments. We will give you an indication at assessment. We will not guarantee a number or an outcome.

Can I have laser treatment in summer?

Some treatments are less suitable when there has been recent sun exposure or when sun avoidance afterwards would be difficult. This is discussed at assessment, and timing may be adjusted.

Do these treatments hurt?

Comfort varies by treatment and by individual. Some involve heat, stinging or a prickling sensation. Topical numbing or cooling may be used where appropriate. We will not describe any of these treatments as painless.

Are all treatments available at every clinic?

No. Device availability varies by location. Contact the clinic you plan to attend, or check our locations.

Do you also do skin cancer checks?

Yes, as a separate clinical service. See skin cancer checks and treatment.

I went to Dr Umed to have the fat dissolving injections in my chin. He was excellent from the start. He was welcoming, explained the procedure and was realistic that it would take a few treatments to reach my desired goal. He was professional and his staff were friendly as well. I have had a really great result with the first treatment, better than what I expected from my first treatment. I have just had my second treatment so I am excited to see the results from this one. I'm also booked in to have his non-surgical rhinoplasty done in November.

Thank you to Natalie and Nurse Angie for taking the time to personally contact me and immediately address all concerns I had from a previous visit. Usually clinics would be annoyed and dismiss any issues you have with treatment afterwards but Dr Umeds, Natalie and Nurse Angie took their time to ensure their patients are always left feeling happy afterwards and I truely do appreciate this and will be returning again. The girls are SO lovely, and nurse Angie’s results are fantastic. I’m looking forward to my next month visit. Thank you ladies 💙

Highly recommend DR Umed clinics for anti wrinkle and filler treatments. I have been seeing the team on the Gold Coast for roughly 4 years now. I normally see Dr Umed himself- who is amazing! But I also strongly recommend Nurse Vish. He is the most gentle injector I have EVER experienced. He is also super friendly and makes you feel really comfortable about the treatment. No matter who treats you at the hope island clinic (sometimes I just select any practitioner when booking online) you will always get 10/10 professional service. All the staff are lovely and professional. And the results, are exceptional. Thank you DR Umed and Vish.
